Interesting facts and trivia about Tears Dry On Their Own - Live At Porchester Hall / 2007. By Songfacts®.

The uptempo Back to Black track, "Tears Dry On Their Own" was originally written by Winehouse as a ballad. She spent a week working on it in her back garden before recording it in one take, before doing another vocal take, changing notes here and there. This is the original demo, which she recorded in November 2005 in Miami with Salaam Remi, who worked with Winehouse on her first two albums.

This original version was included on Winehouse's posthumous long player, Lioness: Hidden Treasures. "It brings another light to the song," said Remi during a listening session for the album. "It's not so much about the production: it's her … making a direct connection with the listener."

Said Remi about the song to NME: "When you listen to what's being said - 'All I'll ever be to you, is a darkness that we knew, with deep regret I've grown accustomed to' - this was the kind of mood that was being created. This was how she'd normally write, on an acoustic guitar at 85bpm."
