Asking Alexandria vocalist Danny Worsnop delves into the depths of darkness in "Dark Void." The powerful anthem embraces the shadowy corners of the world, beckoning listeners to believe in its cathartic message and find solace within its embrace.
The lyrics resound with an urgent plea for liberation, as Worsnop declares: Believe in me, and set me free. I'll drag these memories through the dark void Just let me be, my savior, please Help me crawl out the dark void The words, dripping with raw emotion, encapsulate the struggle against inner demons and the arduous journey towards self-redemption. "With the world seemingly getting darker and darker, it's easy to see why so many of us struggle with anxiety, depression, loneliness," said guitarist Ben Bruce, "this song is about fighting those demons that live in your head and trying your hardest to be your own savior. Finding that inner strength to pull yourself out of the darkness."
Unleashed upon the world on May 12, 2023, "Dark Void" is the inaugural single from Asking Alexandria's eighth studio album. The track serves as an introduction of the album's overarching exploration of the themes of melancholy and the yearning for fulfillment in the tumultuous realm of modern existence. "We all have our own struggles and hurdles. We are all on our own journeys that present unique challenges and difficulties, but we all have our own inner strength to fall back on," said Bruce. "There is always light at the end of the tunnel. I feel that there can be comfort in knowing that we aren't alone. We all feel a little down from time to time. We all feel a little lost from time to time, but somehow, in some way, we are all in this together and hopefully our new album can help people through some of their toughest times."
