Editors first played this song at the Glastonbury festival 2008 before recording it the following year for their In This Light and on This Evening album.
The song has gone through many changes; one different version was recorded for The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack in 2009 featuring several new lyrics. It features in a scene where Edward drives Bella home from the Cullens' house after the vote on her becoming a vampire.
"No Sound But the Wind" quickly become established as part of Editors' live shows and a fan favourite. A live performance from the Belgian festival Rock Werchter was released as a single in some European countries in 2010. It topped the charts in Belgium, making it Editors' second #1 hit in that country (the first being "Papillon").
