In 2014, Morgan Wallen flew from his home state of Tennessee to Los Angeles to compete on Season 6 of The Voice. He was eliminated during the playoffs round, but while in California he hooked up with Sergio Sanchez of the hard rock band Atom Smash. Sanchez introduced Wallen to Bill Ray and Paul Trust of Panacea Records, who signed him to the label. Sanchez and Trust wrote "Spin You Around" with Wallen and released it as his debut single.

In this song, Wallen sings of spotting a girl in a club and plucking up the courage to talk to her. She's reluctant, but he tells her all he wants to do is "spin you around" the dance floor.

"Spin You Around" is the opening track on Stand Alone, Wallen's only EP he recorded for Panacea. Later, in 2015, Wallen's manager, Dirk Hemsath, sent a demo of Wallen to Big Loud Records. After auditioning him, they signed Wallen to the label and the publishing company in 2016.
