The lead single from Ben Haenow's debut album, the song finds the 2014 X Factor winner teaming up a fellow talent show champion. The tune is a duet with Kelly Clarkson, who was the original American Idol, winner back in 2002.
Haenow said regarding the collaboration: "The idea of a feature wasn't on the cards at first but when I heard the vocals on it, I was blown away as it gave the song a whole new dimension. [Kelly Clarkson's] voice is insane. It's incredible." Clarkson added: "I fell in love with 'Second Hand Heart' with the first listen. Lyrically and musically, it is right up my alley."
A "second hand heart" is one that's been wounded by a loss or a difficult relationship. Other artists that have sung of one include Danny Gokey and Dwight Yoakim.
