Interesting facts and trivia about I Could Sing of Your Love Forever. By Songfacts®.

This worship song was first recorded by Delirious? as the last track on their 1994 album Cutting Edge 2. as a six-minute soft pop song featuring a choir. In 2001 it was re-recorded for the band's worship collection, Deeper, becoming a full-blown rock ballad with gospel influences. A radio edit of this version was released as a single, peaking at #40 on the UK singles chart.

Delirious? vocalist Martin Smith wrote the song when he was on holiday. He recalled to us: "This must be back in 1994, '93 maybe even. Couple of decades ago. And just having the space to sit on the side of a hill. There was a river running down below, I remember. It was a very simple song. It came very quickly. One of the very few that did come quickly, unfortunately, and it wrote itself in a sense."

The song is now acknowledged as a worship classic and is Delirious?'s best known tune in America. Martin told us: "It was the song that opened the doors, in a sense, for us. It got picked up Stateside, and a lot of people began to enjoy that song. So that was a blessing."
