Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Baby's Got a Temper - Main Mix. By Songfacts®.

This was The Prodigy's first newly released record for five years. At the time there was much anticipation to see what Liam Howlett and company could come up with half a decade after their commercially successful but controversial "Firestarter" and "Smack My Bitch Up" singles. However this song was panned by the critics and Howlett later admitted it was a mistake. He told Clash magazine: "It wasn't a record I liked at all (laughs). I must have liked it at the time it went out, but I knew it wasn't a sonic reflection of where the band were heading. It was slow, lazy and just down. It wasn't an up record… it was just… (shrugs)."

The song is a homage to the controversial date-rape drug Rohypnol. It focuses on singer Keith Flint's personal experiences when he was part of an underground scene that centered around going out and getting wasted on Rohypnol.

The song was banned by UK radio stations as it glamorized Rohypnol. Liam Howlett expected the controversy. He told Kerrang: "Of course it was going to create a stink because it was real and truthful and the truth scares people."
