Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about The Rocker - Live At The Hammersmith Odeon, London / 1976 / Edit. By Songfacts®.

Phil Lynott: The Rocker is the title of the 1998 biography of the Thin Lizzy frontman by Mark Putterford, which is all the explanation this track needs. Lynott was in every sense a rocker - live fast, and unfortunately die young.

"The Rocker" - a group composition - was produced by Lynott with Nick Tauber and released on Decca in November 1973 backed by "Here I Go Again", their fifth single, although in Germany it was backed by "A Ride In The Lizzy Mobile." The album version is five minutes seventeen seconds of self-indulgence, not from vocalist Lynott but from Eric Bell, lead guitarist with the original three piece line up. Although it didn't make the UK singles chart, it reached #11 in Ireland.
