In its debut week, "The Heart Never Lies" sold 9,000 more copies than McFly's previous single "Baby's Coming Back" did when it went straight in at #1 in May 2007. This time it only entered the UK chart at #3, behind Take That's "Rule The World" and Leona Lewis "Bleeding Love." However it was still their 13th straight Top 10 hit single in the UK.
The B-side is McFly's cover version of Rihanna's "Umbrella."
The video was shot in the English city of Bath.
