This song was inspired by Craig David's relationship with his former girlfriend, South African Roxy Ingram. He says in the Night & Day magazine November 20, 2005, "I was going out with her for about 10 months while recording the album down in Southampton and spending a lot of time down there. She got more and more vexed and ended up telling me she didn't love me any more. I told her, 'This is what it's gonna be like-ultimately you're the mistress in the marriage I have with my music.' Not surprisingly, she didn't appreciate that so we broke up and I used that negative energy to write the song."
