Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Peace. By Songfacts®.

O.A.R. frontman Marc Roberge wrote this song with two Nashville-based songwriters, Nathan Chapman and Blair Daly. Chapman is most famous for producing Taylor Swifts first four albums, and Daly has written songs for Rascal Flatts ("Stand"), Faith Hill ("Paris") and Big & Rich ("That’s Why I Pray"). The trio wrote the song in Daly's basement; Chapman is the one who suggested the title, which they brainstormed around until they formulated the song.

In our interview with Marc Roberge, he talked about the song's meaning: "I had just gotten through a two or three year period of some pretty turbulent times in my personal life and in our band life, and really, really, really wanted a restart button. I really wanted to get back on an even playing field and start fresh. The song became about that. In two hours we wrote the lyric very honestly. It all came out of my experience of just wanting to get to the other side, get to the light. Not win anything, but just get back to zero."

This was one of the first songs written for The Rockville LP album, which was their first release on Vanguard Records. Once the song was written it was much easier for the band to move forward with the rest of the album, since they knew this one would be their first single. "It pretty much gave us the confidence to get out there and experiment even more on the rest of the tracks," Marc Roberge told us. "We kind of stumbled upon it through really honest means, and that to me is the best part about the album: That I have no qualms promoting a song without guilt."
