This song finds Adele describing her depression following her divorce from Simon Konecki. She felt lethargic and anxious. When I wake up, I'm afraid of the idea of facin' the day And resorted to drowning her sorrows with alcohol. I would rather stay home on my own, drink it all away

The song is not all doom and gloom. There's hope on the hook as a Greek chorus encourages Adele, letter her know it's healthy crying her heart out. The tears will cleanse her soul, helping her move out of her miserable state of mind.
