Ten years after this song was released, Donald Trump was elected president of the United States in a stunning election that left both Republicans and Democrats blaming the media for biased, incompetent reporting. In the Songfacts interview with Anti-Flag guitarist Justin Sane, he said: "It was a song written about the failure of the media, and it's pretty interesting... post this election, we've seen a lot of discussion about the media, the idea that Donald Trump was never not on CNN. Whether it was positive or negative, his name was always there. And that when you look at this election in terms of discussing issues versus discussing things like Hillary Clinton's emails or is Donald Trump sexually assaulting people. That's what Fox News and CNN talked about, and there was really very little substance when it came to issues."
