Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about All I Have (feat. LL Cool J). By Songfacts®.

Lopez and her producer, Cory Rooney, thought the album was finished when Sony Music chairman Tommy Mottola and Epic executive Dave McPherson had the idea for one more track called "All I Have." Written by McPherson and Bad Boy songwriter Makeba Riddick, the breakup ballad follows a woman determined to leave a relationship despite her boyfriend's protests. LL Cool J joins Lopez on the duet, which ends up being his first #1 hit on the Hot 100.

The original idea was for Lopez to cover the 1981 Debra Laws hit "Very Special," but McPherson decided to sample the tune instead, bringing in producer Ron G to mix the track. Laws filed fruitless lawsuits against Sony Music Entertainment for "misappropriating her voice" and copyright holder Elektra Entertainment Group for allowing permission to use the sample without her consent.

The original title was "I'm Good," a phrase Lopez repeats several times throughout the song.
