This song finds Ocean telling the story of a strung-out woman he adores. Unfortunately, his stoner girlfriend loves drugs more than him, but he keeps clinging to his woman. His passionate addiction to her is like a drug.
In an interview with the BBC, Ocean explained why he likes to tell fictitious tales in his songs. He said, "What inspires me to make music is... I'm just inspired to tell stories, and you gotta make sure the listener is listening to you. And if you put it in the form of a song, oftentimes, if the song is striking enough, you can really deliver the story most effectively while keeping the ear of the listener the whole time."
Ocean wrote this song with Shea Taylor, whose other credits include "Run the World (Girls)" by Beyoncé and "Just Like Magic" by Ariana Grande. It's part of Frank Ocean's debut album, Channel Orange. Taylor also co-wrote the track "Thinkin 'Bout You."
