This breakup song was written by One Direction's Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson with regular collaborators Julian Bunetta, John Ryan and Jamie Scott. Niall and Louis also teamed up to pen three other Made In The A.M. tracks together: "History," "End Of The Day" and " What a Feeling."
During a Rolling Stone interview with Julian Bunetta, the comment was made that Liam and Louis seem to have become the most regular writing partnership within the group. Bunetta responded: "They've written a few classics, those boys. The process is interesting because there's a lot of people in the room. You have me, Louis, Liam, Jamie [Scott, co-writer] and John. Or you have Ed [Drewett] and Wayne [Hector] in place of Jamie." "Everyone is very headstrong and very, very talented, so it's a fight, a lot of the times. Sometimes it takes days before we all agree on something. It's a good fight!"
Liam Payne said during Made in The A.M.'s listening party that this is more than a break-up song. He explained it's about mourning "a relationship that you really wanted to work."
