This slice of electro rock was produced by influential New York DJ Arthur Baker ("Planet Rock"). As a result it was recorded in New York, a first for the band. The 12-inch single was a crossover hit on the US dance charts, and established a relationship between Baker and New Order that has continued for over two decades.
The song is unique for having both normal New Order bassist Peter Hook and vocalist Bernard Sumner playing bass guitars on it.
The video was shot in the New York club the Funhouse, which was a Puerto Rican club. "It was a bit hairy in there," Sumner laughed to Q magazine. "There was a wild atmosphere."
