This is the first single from British house group Underworld's eighth album, Barking. Rick Smith and Karl Hyde wrote all nine tunes at their studio in Essex, then sent the unfinished album around to various guest artists well-known for their contributions to trance, drum and bass and dubstep. Their collaborators then added their own production work from there. In the case of this song, the duo teamed up with drum & bass producer High Contrast.
The track shares elements with "You Do Scribble," an unreleased song which Underworld has featured many times since 2005 in their live performance shows.
High Contrast is Lincoln Barrett, a Welsh drum and bass DJ and producer. Singer Karl Hyde told inthemix.com about the collaboration: "With Lincoln, he gave us quite a considerable reworking of 'You Do Scribble,' with new melodies, beats and a different structure. At first listen, it was quite radical. As we listened, Rick said it's a great instrumental and I think it's finished, but why don't you have a go at a new melody Karl? Sing a new tune. And we sent that back to Lincoln; it was a lot of backwards and forwards."
