Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about I'll Be There. By Songfacts®.

This is Mariah Carey's cover of what was a #1 hit for The Jackson 5 in 1970. Carey recorded it as a duet with R&B singer Trey Lorenz, with Walter Afanasieff (producer of Michael Bolton's hits) on piano.

Carey recorded this on the March 16, 1992 edition of MTV Unplugged. She decided to add it to her repertoire two days before the performance.

Columbia Records had no plans to release this as a single, but overwhelming demand prompted its May 28 release, 10 weeks after Carey's initial performance.
