Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Right Thru Me. By Songfacts®.

An early Nicki Minaj track, "Right Thru Me" leaked onto the internet on September 22, 2010, just as she was blowing up. Her single "Your Love" was a hit, and she was all over the map with features on tracks for Sean Kingston ("Letting Go (Dutty Love)"), Trey Songz ("Bottoms Up") and Kanye West ("Monster"). "Right Thru Me" was officially released on September 24, two days after the leak, and in November it showed up on her debut album, Pink Friday.

The song finds the New York MC admitting to a lover that though she tries to hide behind a front, she can't escape how she truly feels about him. Minaj said of the cut to MTV News before it was leaked: "It's a really, really pretty song. Everyone's gonna like it. It's just really insightful but in a very conversational kind of way."

Minaj told Entertainment Tonight the song is relatable to anyone that has ever been in a relationship. "The song to me is very, very personal. I haven't spoken about an authentic relationship since I've come out, so this is my first time where I'm speaking about something very, very authentic that everyone in the world can relate to. Not everybody is rich, not everybody likes jewelry, not everyone likes playing dress-up, but everyone has been in a relationship at some point in their lives, so when you hear a relationship song, it's like, you react."
