Hal David co-wrote this song with composer Sherman Edwards. It was one of the many that he had written before forming his legendary partnership with songwriter Burt Bacharach.
Vaughan initially didn't think much of this song, describing it as "corny." Like many songs that turned off the artists who recorded them, this became one of her biggest hits. It gave her her first gold record, was her only Top 10 hit in the UK and was cemented into her concert repertoire for the rest of her career.
