Seafret is a British indie-pop duo comprising singer Jack Sedman and guitarist Harry Draper. They take their name from the soft mist that rolls in from the North Sea and covers their hometown of Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire. Seafret released "Atlantis" as the lead single from their debut album, Tell Me It's Real, on May 1, 2015.
Here, Sedman sings of a reluctant breakup. I can't save us, my Atlantis, we fall We built this town on shaky ground The legendary island of Atlantis was said to have been a powerful kingdom before it sank into the sea. Sedman compares the doomed island to their unstable romance, which was destined to fail. I can't save us, my Atlantis, oh, no We built it up to pull it down Sedman and his lover put a lot of work into their relationship only to see it torn down as Atlantis was.
Sedman and Draper wrote "Atlantis" with Scouting for Girls vocalist Roy Stride. Steve Robson (Take That's "Shine," Rascal Flatts' "What Hurts The Most," Olly Murs "Troublemaker") produced the song.
