Love of My Life (feat. Dave Matthews & Carter Beauford)

Santana used a bevy of guest musicians on the Supernatural album, bringing the group to a far wider audience. "Love Of My Life" features Dave Matthews on vocals and Carter Beauford of the Dave Matthews band on drums. They're augmented by Carlos Santana on guitar and members of the band Santana, including percussionist Karl Perazzo and bass player Benny Rietveld. Other guests on the album include Rob Thomas, Lauryn Hill and Everlast, which along with Matthews covered a wide musical spectrum. The song didn't get picked as a single but it did help the album put up huge sales numbers (over 15 million in America) and slurp up eight Grammy Awards.

Dave Matthews wrote the song with Carlos Santana. It's a very Matthews lyric, passionate to the edge of obsession ("I can't forget the taste of your mouth...").

Musically, the song is based on "Symphony No.3 In F Major, Op.90" by the composer Johannes Brahms.
