Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Something Good. By Songfacts®.

This song came about when vocalist Keith Buckley and guitarist Joe Trohman were working on what would ultimately became "Storm Charmer" and were stuck. They decided to move on to something else and come back to it later. It was then that Trohman showed Buckley the opening riff for "Something Good." Buckley thought it was catchy so they decided to work on it. Buckley recalled to Kerrang: "I already had the verses written as notes in a file on my computer and he had the choruses ready. We started humming things and he found the melody immediately, then the chorus came into place."

Buckley said that lyrically "'Something Good' is a feel-good song about feeling bad." He explained: "It's about hurting people you care about because it is not in your nature to do the right thing even when you want to. A dark moral story with a really sunny feel."

The song's animated visual finds a dude venturing into the depths of Hell to retrieve his stolen butt. The goofy clip was created by Los Angeles-based Kris Baldwin, who was a visual effects artist on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 movie.
