Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Kiss This. By Songfacts®.

Co-written by Aaron Tippin with his wife Thea and Philip Douglas, this song finds him singing about a woman getting revenge on her cheating lover. It was the singer's third and final #1 on the Country chart.

The song was inspired by a fight between Tippin and his wife. "I had come off the road, and I was trying to tell her how to cook," he recalled at a media event. "I am a 'backseat cook.' She was whipping us up something to eat. I said, 'No, honey, not a smidge of this. Read the cookbook - it's right there; it said 'one tablespoon.' Boy, she went through the roof." "I could tell this was going to escalate, so I backed off," Tippin continued. "I said, 'I don't want to fight. I just got home. I want to be nice. Tell you what: What do you say we kiss and make up?'" Thea Tippin's response was, "You know what you can kiss?' Kiss this." After cooling down the Tippins realized that their argument was a song idea, and according to Thea, after they turned the song in, her husband's record label, "begged us to get into more fights."

Melodie Crittenden, Kim Parent, and Joanna Janét sing backing vocals and Thea Tippin can be heard saying "See ya!" at the end.
