This silky slice of synthpop finds Carly Rae Jepsen shutting down a potential lover as a means of avoiding any more heartbreak. If there's something between you and me Baby, I have no time for it I'm happy not knowing Though the singer has feelings for a guy, she doesn't feel ready yet to jump into a potential relationship.
Said Carly Rae to Q magazine: "If you've never experienced heartbreak, it does become easy to close yourself up and be less vulnerable. Happy Not Knowing explains that fear of being paralyzed. You should believe in love even when it's not working for you, and fight to find that connection. To act like you don't need love is really dangerous. Everyone needs it."
Carly Rae wrote the song with: Longtime collaborator Tavish Crowe. They also wrote her breakthrough single "Call Me Maybe" together. John Hill, Jordan Palmer and Daniel Ledinsky. Jepsen also co-penned "No Drug Like Me" with the same trio.
