Drummer Ross Jarman told Mojo magazine October 2009 that this swipe at hipster crowds was fueled by their experiences: "playing Brixton Windmill, full of kids who were only there because they thought it made them look cool."
Just after this song was released, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr heard it on his car radio. He told Mojo that as the track played, "I felt I had a connection with Gary's voice, Ryan's guitar, the attitude. I could hear destiny." In 2008 he became a formal member of The Cribs.
