This is one of several tracks on Cook's self-titled major label debut album with the theme of love amidst separation. Cook explained in publicity materials that this song is, "loving someone you can't be near."
Espen Lind and Amund Bjorklund, who make up the Norwegian songwriting and music production team Espionage, wrote this with Nixons founder Zac Maloy. Espionage were previously responsible for co-writing Beyoncé's hit "Irreplaceable" and Chris Brown's smash "With You." The Norwegian duo and Maloy also co-wrote "Lie" and "Life On The Moon" together with David Cook on his self-titled album.
