Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Strut. By Songfacts®.

Lambert reunited with Idol judge Kara DioGuardi to pen this slab of Glam rock. The song's producer, Greg Wells also has a writing credit. It was one of four songs on For Your Entertainment that Lambert co-penned. He also contributed to "Pick U Up," "Aftermath" and "Broken Open."

Lambert told Entertainment Weekly: "It's a Gary Glitter/ T. Rex-type empowerment lyric. You're not gonna find love and happiness unless you let your hair down and strut your stuff."

Rolling Stone asked Lambert whether the songs that he writes on his own, tend to gravitate toward ballads or sadder songs. He replied: "I like to write both, I just like to write something that means something. Even 'Strut,' it's not incredibly hooky, but it's a self-empowerment thing. Strut it out, work your s--t, and feel good about yourself and let it all hang out, sooner or later you're going to find love and be happy in your life. So it's fun and it's light-hearted, but it definitely has some weight to it, as far as what it's trying to say."
