On the message board of the band's website, bassist Rick Burch was asked to comment on the fact they'd recorded a second political song after the title track of their Futures album. He replied: "We're getting older. We are realizing more and more that the decisions these people are making on our behalf affect us directly, so it's kind of hard not to be influenced by that and have a feeling about it. And so that just tends to come up from time to time, when we're expressing how we feel through our music. We're not necessarily a political band, but I think it is part of our lives, it's part of everyone's lives. So I think this is where it stems from."
