Cabello uses spiritual imagery throughout the song to describe the way her beau takes her to heaven. She talks of her divine lover "saving her," there's "God in every move," and her body crashing into him is "like a choir singing Hallelujah."
Some fans have speculated that Cabello wrote this about her relationship with Shawn Mendes. However, she first tweeted about the tune in February 2019, four months before she started dating the Canadian pop star.
