"Lost in California" was penned by Lori McKenna, Liz Rose and Hillary Lindsey. The three Nashville songwriters nicknamed themselves the "Love Junkies" when writing three tracks for Little Big Town's previous album, Painkiller, including the hit single "Girl Crush."
LBT's Karen Fairchild commented to Radio.com. "That's one of those songs that always reminds me of us always moving and traveling. It's a beautiful love song written by the Love Junkies."
