The song's title is French for "My Love." It finds Shakira wishing her former lover a horrible time during his holiday in Paris with his new girlfriend: The song has a similar theme to the Colombian singer's 1999 single "Si Te Vas" (If You Leave), in which Shakira warns her boyfriend that if he leaves her, he will ultimately regret it.
The song was written by keyboardist Albert "Sterling" Menendez.
In this song Shakira vows, "Hope the French fleas eat you both alive." However the Colombian songstress told MTV News there's no harm meant in the song. "I was just fantasizing about fleas in France eating them both alive," she stated, before continuing, "This album has been written from a very feminine perspective. I think maybe because I feel more like a woman today... I guess this album contains a lot of the emotions that a woman experiments when you're in love or out of love - jealousy, fantasies, daydreams."
