Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Hot Gates. By Songfacts®.

Marcus Mumford discussed the titling of this song with Billboard magazine. "Naming songs is such a b--l ache," he said. "So we'd just name them after whatever came into the engineer's mind." Mumford added that he really wanted to call this song "Ray Fines" after the actor Ralph Fiennes. "Spelled wrong, because our engineer can't spell," he said. "The lads vetoed that. Being in a band is all about compromise."

Mumford & Sons used a drum machine for this song. "It just frees your hands up to get creative with melodies and stuff like that," bassist Ted Dwayne explained to The Music.com.
