Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Oops (Oh My) [feat. Missy Elliott]. By Songfacts®.

Tweet wrote this song with Missy Elliott, who performs on the track and makes an appearance in the Cameron Casey-directed video. With a combination of sculpted styrofoam and fog machines, the icy clip was modeled after Sweden's famous Icehotel. The hotel, the first of its kind, is rebuilt each year out of snow and ice in the village of Jukkasjärvi. (Thanks, Shirl - Bay Area, CA)

In the song, Tweet comes home late, and tantalized by her buttery brown body, removes her shirt and skirt. Understandably, this is commonly understood to be about masturbation, but Missy Elliott says that's a misinterpretation. She explained in a 2020 tweet (yes, a tweet about a Tweet song): "This song was never bout masturbation. It was always about her appreciating her dark skin (self love) when she looked in the mirror. It was the listeners that thought it was about sex and just ran with it... and we just let the consumers mind create what they wanted."

Missy Elliott cohort Timbaland produced this track.
