La Roux's Elly Jackson told Q magazine that this Dancehall-infused song is about, "a guy I've known for many years, kind of a Caribbean Del Boy." The "Del Boy" that Jackson refers to is David Jason's cockney wheeler-dealer Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter from the BBC TV sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
The song samples "My Jamaican Guy" by Grace Jones, which was the third single from her 1982 album Living My Life.
