The moodiest and most minimal number on Reflektor, this song is an alternative version of the album's opener, with production from Markus Dravs rather than the original's James Murphy. "I think every album we write about what's happening to us at that time," co vocalist Régine Chassagne explained to The Guardian. "And sometimes there's a lot [to say], and there's like a second wave … the same idea, and so then you get this," she added holding one palm up, "and that." It is often, multi-instrumentalist Will Butler added, a case of "just attacking the same concept over and over."
This was actually written before the first part. Win Butler told Rolling Stone: "Both of them are very much influenced by when the sun is just starting to go down in Port au Prince, and it's really intense because most of the city doesn't have electricity so everyone is just racing to get home before dark."
