Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about 24 Frames. By Songfacts®.

This song serves as a tribute to the city of Athens, Georgia, home to Isbell's former band, the Drive-By Truckers. Sound-wise, the track was inspired by Athens' most famous sons, the rock band R.E.M. "Twenty-four frames roll past the camera every second during a movie," Isbell explained to Rolling Stone Country. "I've seen some stuff that's faster, but [it] always looks like a British TV show. That's what the song is called, and I think it's really interesting - it kind of sounds like the way indie rock sounded when I was 15."

The song features Isbell's wife, singer-songwriter/fiddler Amanda Shires, contributing harmony vocals.

This won for Best American Roots Song at the Grammy Awards in 2016.
