The guitar riff was originally something that Ronson wrote when working on Rufus Wainwright's Out Of The Game album. "It was partly inspired by a cello line he wrote for the song 'Jericho,'" Ronson told The Guardian. "I really loved it but it didn't fit his record and I didn't know if I'd ever get to use it." "But then a year or so later," he continued, " I came up with the verse chords (inspired by some Michael (Chabon) lyrics that we never used) and everything seemed to fit together pretty well."
The song features the voice of Uptown Special co-producer Jeff Bhasker. "I love Jeff's vocal on this," said Ronson. "And for all the great melodies he's written for Kanye, Beyoncé, Alicia etc, this is the first time he's ever actually been on a record."
