Interesting facts and trivia about I Can See The Change. By Songfacts®.

Celeste wrote this jazz-tinged soul number at what was "a strange time" in her life. "I was feeling flat. I felt disconnected from myself and the world around me so I knew something needed to change," she said. I can see the change Come what may, I won't regret today I can see the change Feel the pace of everything Celeste added: "Ultimately the song is about hope and change but knowing that to obtain this requires effort, patience and conviction."

Celeste's performance of "Strange" at the 2020 Brit Awards garnered interest from other big names in the pop music industry who attended the ceremony. They included Billie Eilish and Finneas, her songwriter-producer brother. Finneas stayed in touch with the soul singer and they decided to collaborate on this song, finishing it during lockdown.

Celeste released the stirring ballad on May 27, 2020, by which time it has taken on additional meaning because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the global reinvigoration of the Black Lives Matter movement. The video reflects this, featuring iconic and relevant footage from a 1963 Martin Luther King rally in the United States.
