Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about You Bring Me Joy. By Songfacts®.

Middlesbrough-born Amelia Lily attended dance school as a child, and also took part in musical theatre. In 2011 she finished third on the eighth series of X Factor behind Marcus Collins and winners Little Mix. Amelia signed a 3-album record deal with Sony subsidiary Xenomania and released this song as her debut single on August 26, 2012 in the UK.

Pop collective Xenomania, who have previously worked with Girls Aloud, Alesha Dixon and Gossip, produced the song. Amelia told Pop Justice that she doesn't mind singing tracks she hasn't written herself. "I think a song all depends on if the artist is right for the song and if they connect vocally with it," she said. "With a lot of my tracks we picked them for the album because I connected with them. If I played you a track that I felt I didn't connect with you'd hear a massive difference."

Lily told the Daily Star that she chose to work with Xenomania on the track as she wanted to surprise the public with her debut release. "I wanted to show people I'm not just a rock chick," she said.
