This ballad tells the story of a guy spotting a beautiful girl from across the bar and trying to get her attention. Young sings during the chorus: Lonely eyes It sure looks like You just might Be looking for something, for something Look at me And I think you'll see Those lonely eyes don't have to be alone tonight
The song was written by Johnny Bulford (Lee Brice's "A Woman Like You"), Laura Veltz (Eli Young Band's "Drunk Last Night") and Jason Matthews (Billy Currington's "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right").
The many hours that Chris Young has spent in one of his favorite local bars was one of his reasons for choosing to cut this song. "I've spent my fair share of time at Losers (Bar & Grill) in Nashville," he admitted. "As a songwriter I like to always be observing the world around me because you never know where you'll find inspiration, and I've seen moments like what I sing about in 'Lonely Eyes' go down all the time." "I've always said the best song wins," Young added, "and the soaring melody and smart lyrics of this song grabbed me from the first time I heard it."
