Kimetrius Foose is a rapper from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania who records under the name of Lil Skies. This was released as a promotional single from his first major label mixtape, Life of a Dark Rose, on December 15, 2017.
The song features rhymes about Skies' day to day life and his plans for his future: Red roses on my grave, bury me with art And with some Backwoods and a lighter just so I could spark Lil Skies explained the lyric to Genius: "A red rose is just beautiful. You see red roses on graves. It was just something I could relate to. 'Bury me with art' is just, Bury me with my s--t. Bury me with the s--t that I like, that I was very into, that's all I want. And with some Backwoods and a lighter just so I could spark when I go to heaven."
The beat is courtesy of Menoh Beats. After falling fell asleep in the late afternoon, Lil Skies woke up in the middle of the night to an email from the producer. He didn't know who Menoh was, but he decided to give the soundscape a listen. "It was like a kid, he just sent this one beat," Skies explained to Billboard. "It was crazy because I normally write at the studio, but I started writing immediately. As soon as I heard the song, and then basically I stayed up working on the song until my engineer woke up, and then once he woke up, I went right to the studio, recorded the song."
