"No Drug Like Me" is an '80s-influenced, synth-pop power ballad penned by Carly Rae Jepsen in the late evening of a session. She composed the tune with John Hill, Jordan Palmer, Daniel Ledinsky and her new boyfriend James Flannigan. The lyrics were inspired by her love for Flannigan, a British songwriter and producer who has worked with Dua Lipa and Kodaline.
Jepsen sings about opening up herself to her lover. In doing so the bond between her and her man will grow so strong he will become addicted to her like a drug. And if you make me feel in love, then I'll blossom for you If you make me open up, I'll tell only the truth When your mouth is running dry Your head high, hold on, baby You ain't tried no drug like me Jepsen said of the song, "'No Drug Like Me' is a promise I made to love in general. That when the good stuff lands my way I'll always try to be vulnerable and brave and show all of myself - 'If you make me feel in love then I'll blossom for you.'"
