Jamaican band The Heptones recorded a number of different versions of this song - not all have the verse "Look where the rain is falling from the sky." This verse was added by The Heptones to the original poem by R.L. Sharpe A Bag Of Tools, which the song is based upon.

Bobby & the Midnites, a 1981 studio album by Grateful Dead singer and guitarist Bob Weir, contains a cover of this song. It has also been recorded by Desmond Dekker and Inner Circle.
