Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Indestructible. By Songfacts®.

The message of this song is that the human spirit is indestructible. Music has been our savior since day one, and through music you can live forever.

"Indestructible" is the title track to the sixth Rancid album, their second produced by Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion. In the mid-'90s, Rancid had some crossover hits ("Ruby Soho," "Time Bomb") and even a Platinum album (...And Out Come the Wolves, their third), but they never played to popular taste, and when the punk trend faded, so did their mainstream popularity. They stayed true to their roots and retained many loyal fans that were still with them during their Indestructible era. They earned a reputation, along with Green Day, as one of the most important bands to emerge from the northern California punk scene in the '90s.

At the end of this song, the band pays tribute to Joe Strummer of The Clash, who died on December 22, 2002 while Rancid was recording the album: And I'll keep listening to the great Joe Strummer Cause through music he can live forever
