This heartfelt track finds Future and longtime collaborator Drake ruminating on the highs and lows of their love affairs. Both acknowledge the importance of having an honest romantic partner in their lives. A substance-filled Future becomes frustrated that the girl won't leave him alone, but is touched by her tears. Meanwhile, Drake realizes his lover has been taking advantage of his wealth and prestige to benefit her. He's tried to help the girl, but now she's erasing him from her life.

"Wait For You" marks the 28th track featuring both Future and Drake. Their other collaborations include their 2015 joint mixtape What A Time To Be Alive, Future's High Off Life song "Life Is Good," and Drake's Certified Lover Boy cut "Way 2 Sexy."

Nigerian R&B and Afrobeats singer-songwriter Tems contributes sampled vocals from her 2020 track 'Higher." Tems previously collaborated with Drake on his Certified Lover Boy song "Fountains."
