Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about War All The Time. By Songfacts®.

This song is not literally about war, but deals with the hardships teens go through while growing up and how hard life can be. In the beginning of the song, lead singer Geoff Rickly sings about his best friend's older brother dying, and also growing up too fast not getting everything out of being a teen.

This song shows how "Wars" are going on every day, big and small. In the beginning, Rickly describes his best friend's brother dying and the chorus uses the words, "In the shadow of the NY skyline," referring to New Jersey, where the band grew up. He goes on to sing about how America is turning into a violent nation ("The sun doesn't rise, we'll replace it with an H-bomb explosion"), using TV to manipulate its citizens ("Nightmares on TV they used to sing us to sleep").

The beginning of the song is just the bassist, Tim Payne.
