The band's name comes from Linda Kasabian, a member of the Manson Family cult who later turned state's witness. The name was picked by then-guitarist Chris Karloff who'd been reading up on Charles Manson and thought it sounded "cool."
Much of their self-titled debut album was recorded in a farmhouse in their home county, with cables running through kitchens and bedrooms. That DIY setup gave the record its raw, psychedelic edge.
On Oasis's final tour in 2009, Kasabian were the support act. After Oasis split mid-tour, Kasabian cheekily started blasting "Champagne Supernova" over the PA after their sets.
