Enya (born Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin) is one of the most famous artists of the New Age genre. Her music can be described as soothing, with soft, rich vocals, use of synthesizer, and a Celtic flavor. Since the beginning of her career in the early 1980s, she has released eight studio albums and sold over 75 million copies.

Enya was born in County Donegal in Ireland into a musical family. She joined a family band – made up of her siblings and her uncle – named Clannad, for which she played keyboards. After leaving the band she scored a BBC TV show and released the soundtrack in 1986 under her name. Her breakout album Watermark was released in 1988, featuring the single "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)." The album went 4x Platinum and made her an international star.

Enya won the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album for her 1991 album Shepherd Moons, which remained on the Billboard charts for 199 consecutive weeks. She won the same award for her albums The Memory of Trees, A Day Without Rain, and Amarantine.
